Foreign citizens who buy (acquire ownership) of real estate in the Republic of Croatia can be divided into two groups:
a.) Foreign citizens from the European Union
b.) Foreign citizens from outside the European Union
a) Foreign citizens from the European Union can buy real estate in the Republic of Croatia under the same conditions as citizens of the Republic of Croatia.
b) Foreign citizens from outside the European Union must obtain approval for the purchase (acquire ownership) of real estate in the Republic of Croatia from the Ministry of Justice of the Republic in an administrative procedure.
What is the deadline for paying real estate tax?
The taxpayer must pay the assessed tax amount within 15 days of the date of delivery of the provisional decision on the assessment of real estate tax.
What is a down payment and how much is it?
A down payment is a security that the buyer pays to the seller as a sign that the contract has been concluded and as a guarantee that the obligation will be fulfilled. In practice, the down payment is given in the Preliminary Contract and usually amounts to 10% of the agreed purchase price. In the event of fulfillment of the contract, the down payment is included in the total amount of the agreed purchase price.
